Growing up in Burlington, ON, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go to summer camp as a youth. I am honoured to participate in this event with the Easter Seals to support more kids getting to enjoy summer camp and have as good, if not better experiences than I did.
I’ve always been athletic, active and very into sports. Playing competitive hockey and soccer. As an adult, I’ve given up the pro career dreams and exchanged them for local (and solo) competition. I’ve added a few additional activities to the resume, including cycling, rock climbing, yoga and skiing. With this event, I’ll be running to the dance studio.
I grew up in Burlington, went to university in Halifax at Dalhousie University, travelled to South America for a year after university (note: I took one salsa class and they said it was really nice of me to attend and that I had so much potential, but the school is closing immediately, very friendly), and have lived in Waterdown for the past 5 years with my two cats.
As an amateur dancer, I try to enjoy myself and dance like no one is watching. I’m thrilled to learn a few more dance moves and have a real audience and some judges in this charitable competition.
My mother was an avid dancer and did her best to teach me the waltz and ballroom. It’s been almost two decades since the last time I tripped over her feet, though, so I’m excited to dust off the shoes and maybe cut up a rug or two.
I’ve participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer three times, coached minor hockey with the Burlington Eagles, as well as various other local and regional charitable events over the years and some with my time working at RBC for the last 10 years.
I enjoy any opportunity to support a great cause, and this event combines my passion for having a great summer and dancing like everyone is watching.
