Hi! My name is Casey MacKay and I have a disability called Cerebral Palsy. I’m so honoured to be one of the judges for this year’s Halton Dancing with Easter Seals Stars. Easter Seals Ontario has always been a big part of my life, and without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
In 2009, I was the Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador where I got to speak at various events across Ontario and be the voice for kids who don’t have one. I met so many people through that experience that I now consider friends. I still enjoy attending Easter Seals events and helping out wherever I can.
For the past 24 years, I’ve participated in the Toronto Maple Leafs Skate for Easter Seals Kids, raising over $140,000. I was an Easter Seals camper for 15 summers, and in the summer of 2022, I got to work at Camp Merrywood in person as a camp counselor.
Camp boosted my self-confidence and independence, so much so that I graduated from the Broadcast/Television/Videography program with honours at Humber College North Campus in 2019, and I can now proudly say I live on my own in an assisted living apartment, which many people never thought would be possible.
Easter Seals Ontario will always hold a special place in my heart, and I’d like to thank everyone here tonight for showing how much they care about Easter Seals Kids! Have a great evening and enjoy the show!
