Born in Riga, Latvia, and raised in Canada since ’98, I grew up surrounded by music and movement. As a kid, I spent countless hours on Dance Dance Revolution and watching Les Twins’ World of Dance performances, but it wasn’t until 2022 that I truly started dancing.
I first saw Latin dance in 2021 alongside friends from the Windsor Circus Community, and honestly, it didn’t click. A year later, the Windsor Salsa and Bachata community changed that. What began as curiosity became a passion for social dancing, and that passion has since led me to my main focus: Kizomba, a traditional social dance from Angola.
Dance also gave me the best partner I could ask for. I met my wife on the dance floor, and today we teach Kizomba together at Art of Dance. Alongside teaching, I spend my time studying the details of the dance: the connection, the musicality, and the meaning that lives in body movement.
