My name is Stephen Mitchell, and I left a career as an engineer to join my family in building Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery. I’ve spent the last 20 years growing the business to what it is today, while working to advance the recognition of Essex County Wineries.
I’m married to my wonderful wife, Lisa Mariuz, and we have 2 children, Dylan and Chloe. Chloe dances with DB Crew – I’m looking forward to her help practicing my dances!
I’ve always enjoyed dancing when at a wedding or out with friends, so when I was given the opportunity to take on this challenge, I was excited to participate. It’s definitely something to work toward and a chance to step outside my comfort zone. It will be interesting to see how I dance without a glass of wine as inspiration —and, for anyone who knows me, remembering instructions has never been my strong suit!
I believe in supporting the community that supports us. As a local business, giving back to causes important in our community means we are part of helping make that community a better place to be. Through our fundraising efforts at Sprucewood Shores, I’ve experienced firsthand how rewarding it can be to help others. As a parent, I want my children to have every opportunity to participate, build confidence, and enjoy experiences that help them grow. I know that parents of children with disabilities want the same thing. I’m excited to be part of helping make those same opportunities possible for their children.
