I am a City Councillor for the City of Niagara Falls. I am also a small business owner. I’m a mother of two beautiful daughters, and a wife to my husband of 24 years. I was a Parent Council member for my Kids Elementary School for over 10 years, where we did everything from driving kids to Volley Ball games to holding fundraisers to help support the school. I also volunteered at community kitchens, Project Share, and helped with numerous activities and events for ethnic groups. In my downtime, I like to take long walks with my dog, ride my bike, cook and read. I am a very family oriented person. I love spending time with my family playing board games, hiking, and watching all kind of sports. I was born and raised in the State of Gujarat in India. I grew up in a large family with 31 first cousins. Growing up in India with a large family was a blessing. Growing up with friends and neighbors from all different backgrounds and needs gave me an understanding of what community really means at a very young age. Learning different cultures and traditions, eating different foods while celebrating different festivals of such a diverse community molded me into the person I am today. What it couldn’t teach me though was How to Dance! Growing up in India and being a hopeless Dancer doesn’t really go hand in hand. Participating in this years Dancing with Easter Seals, I will be discovering my hidden potential. I want to thank Easter Seals of Ontario for letting me be a part of their momentum towards a future of endless possibilities.
