Mirella Agro has been passionate about dancing since she was a little girl and started her dance training at the age of twelve. She studied ballet, jazz, hip hop, acro, lyrical, and flamenco but specialized in flamenco and ballet.
Mirella performed in Pinocchio with the Canadian Ballet Youth Ensemble – choreographed by Robert Desrosiers, Sleeping Beauty with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company and Evelyn Hart, and as a company member with Paula Moreno Spanish Dance Company. She then decided to start her own Spanish Dance Company with Emanuela Dussin, called Flamenquitas Spanish Dancers. They performed at weddings, engagement parties and local events such as Hamilton Super Crawl, Andalusian Horse Festival and the Bishops Retirement Luncheon. The Flamenquitas hosted a fundraiser for Women to Women International – a charity that raises money for women in war torn countries to help them get back on their feet.
Mirella studied at the National Ballet School in their Teacher Education Program and has taught ballet and flamenco since 2001 with her full membership with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA). She has prepared students for their CDTA ballet exams from Preliminary Badge through Advanced levels. Mirella enjoyed teaching dance for the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board as part of their Artist in the Classroom program which ranged from grades Kindergarten to 12. Finally, she is a member of the Hamilton Sicilian Folklore Group which performs at cultural events including Sicilia Canta, Festitalia and Maria SS Del Monte Festival.
Mirella has a passion for dance and a desire to share it with you!
