Since Matthew’s first dance class at 14 months old, his heart has been set on dancing which can be seen on and off the stage. Due to Matthew’s enjoyment of dance, he has never ceased and has led to his training in ballet, lyrical, contemporary, tap, musical theatre, jazz, fosse, flamenco, cha cha, swing and street dance (breakdancing, hip hop, popping, locking and house).
Building off of his love for dance Matthew has had some amazing opportunities, such as being able to perform on Broadway with BeDiscovered Broadway Bound; working with Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas Cruise Ship; and, being a part of the Hamilton Tiger Cat Jr. Dance and Cheer Team where he would perform at the Ticats home games at Tim Hortons Field. Additionally, Matthew has worked with Theatre Ancaster in their musical performances of Matilda, Mamma Mia, and Annie.
In 2021 Matthew was fortunate to be part of JJ’s Dance Arts where he performed in a Charity Performance for the Lighthouse for Grieving Children called Light Heavy Light at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. Currently, Matthew is working at CBY the Academy for the Performing Arts teaching street dance and musical theatre to children ranging between the ages of three to twelve.
On a more academic level, Matthew is currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Philosophy with plans to receive a Bachelor of Education following graduation.
Matthew’s philosophy around dance is that dance is not about perfection instead it is about one’s personal progress.
