Lorrie King lived in Maple for over 20 years and while she has moved downtown, her heart, her friends and her work are still in Vaughan. Lorrie is the marketplace partner for Deloitte Private in Toronto, where she has worked for 13 years. She serves private clients in the Greater Toronto Area, primarily in the real estate and hospitality industries. She is married to John and they have two grown sons, Mitchell and Ben. Both boys played hockey in Vaughan for several years and the King family was a common sight at the local arenas, where John coached and Lorrie managed the boys’ teams. Mitch has gone on to be an amazing chef and he is completing his studies at George Brown. Ben is following in Lorrie’s footsteps at Syracuse University where he is finishing his Masters in Accounting.
Lorrie grew up in a home where volunteerism was expected – her mother has been Volunteer of the Year for the Red Cross and has been recognized by the prime minister for her volunteer work. Lorrie has raised money for several charities, including managing the campaign for the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation’s “Hair Dare” a few years ago. She is a member of Women United, a committee of the GTA United Way that focuses on women’s issues across the region. She is a board member of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party, an organization that promotes Sport, Food and Music across Canada and is a Co-Chair of the Toronto event. This year, Lorrie is moving outside her comfort zone to raise money through activity. She is excited to be Dancing for the Stars to raise money for Easter Seals and to be riding in the Ride to Conquer Cancer for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
