Leslie was born and raised in Sudbury. She spent her young adult years exploring career options, attending Aviation College, working for a chartered accounting firm, and owning her own small business. She became an elementary school teacher 19 years ago with the Rainbow District School Board, where she has been teaching at the same amazing school ever since. She is currently teaching grade 4-6 Core French where her love and passion for teaching has been ignited.
Her most cherished job, however, is that of being mom to her two girls whose daily and extra-curricular sports schedules keep her busy. She values the time she is able to spend with her immediate and extended family members as well as the community of friends who all forever lift her up and encourage her to be the best she can be.
Leslie faced her greatest challenge when her eldest daughter was diagnosed with leukemia almost 9 years ago. This test proved her resilience and inner strength (that she didn’t think she had) and demonstrated her relentless dedication and passion to her children. Today, she strives to empower her girls by making the best of whatever life throws at them, teaching them to live in gratitude, to develop a positive growth mindset, to learn from their mistakes, and to strive to make memories along the way.
Leslie has proven to herself that it’s never too late for personal growth and self-improvement, and that life really does begin outside of your comfort zone. Competing in, and winning, the 2018 Dancing with Easter Seals Stars was a huge comfort zone stretch for Leslie. Since then, she has been inspired to try other new things that challenge and scare her. 2020 is starting off strong as she takes the floor to “Dance Again”.
