JC Campos is a proud Hamiltonian. After graduating with honors from Hamilton’s Cathedral High School, he took a year off to immerse himself in another culture and learn a new language by living in Mexico. Upon returning to Canada, he pursued post-secondary education in marketing and advertising, which led to a career in broadcast media. In Calgary, JC led the creative team for Rogers Media for eight years.
Seeking to be closer to his family, JC returned to Ontario and furthered his education in Toronto with a post-degree diploma in Corporate Communications and Public Relations. He then joined Carmen’s Group, where he became known as the Portuguese “Swiss Army Knife,” assisting with marketing, public relations, and high-profile celebrity charity events.
When Peter Mercanti, the founder of Carmen’s, retired, JC became his right-hand man for his next business venture. Combining Peter’s business acumen with his own marketing skills, they brought the family’s cherished lasagna recipe to the retail grocery market in 2015. Mama Yolanda’s Gourmet Lasagna is now available in major grocery stores across Ontario and is poised to expand across Canada, with Newfoundland being the first province outside Ontario to carry the product.
As the Director of Business Development at Mercanti Specialty Foods Inc., a division of Carmen’s Group, JC leads sales and client relationship management, opening new markets and launching new products, develops strategic partnerships, and guides long-term objectives to meet business needs and requirements.
Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with a basic understanding of French and Italian, JC enjoys traveling the world with his global network of friends and following anything related to football (soccer) in his free time.
