Well known in the Sudbury area, Bob has been in the Latin, ballroom, and jive dance scene since the late 1980’s. He has bronze level in all Latin, ballroom dances, including jive and has competed in the Latin division in Montreal. He branched off to include salsa, bachata, Argentine tango and country 2-step and is working on silver level dances. He also assists his dance instructor, Jan from “Jan Fregonese’s Professional School of Dance.”
Bob and his partner have volunteered at various summer events and provided dance entertainment to the clients and staff at various senior’s homes and healthcare facilities.
He has volunteered for Dancing with Easter Seals Stars as a professional Coach/Instructor for the past eight years. This will be his 9th year participating in this event.
He has also participated in the 2018 and 2019 Northern Latin Congress, instructing workshops and demonstrating.
Retiring from Mines Engineering at Vale after 35.5 years he continued as a full time Worker Advocate for the United Steelworkers (7 years) finally retiring in April 2016. He followed his true passion, advocating for persons with injuries, illness and disabilities. He has a true understanding of the challenges children with physical disabilities and their families face.
He enjoys being able to participate in this event raising funds for children with physical disabilities while also enjoying the sport of dance. Bob is excited to be back for the 10 year anniversary “Battle Back” edition and to showcase his partner Anne Salter Dorland.
