My name is Antonio De Gasperis. Together with my brothers, Fred (deceased) and Angelo, I am one of the co-founders of Condrain Group.
I arrived in Canada from Italy in 1961, bringing my parents, 2 sisters and younger brother. At that time I joined my older brothers Fred and Angelo who had already been here for several years before me. Together we worked to build Con-Drain Construction into one of the most experienced sewer and watermain contractors in North America with over 60 years of experience.
In the early days, young people would go to dance clubs on a Saturday night for entertainment. Unlike the clubs of today, the music wasn’t as loud and they closed down a lot earlier. It was at one of these dances that I met Helga, my wife of over 56 years. We had 3 children which I’m proud to say all work in the family business. In addition, we now have several of the 3rd generation grandchildren working with us as well.
Now at the age of 80, Lily and my staff convinced me to participate in Dancing with Easter Seals Stars. Although for many years I’ve preferred the pace of the golf course to the dance floor, and although I may not be as agile on the dance floor as I used to be, I agreed to dust off my dancing shoes.
I have been blessed with six healthy grandchildren. After seeing the struggles of many of these children and teens, and what Easter Seals does for them … how could I refuse!
