Anne Salter – Executive Director; Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation For the last 33 years, it has been my privilege to be the Executive Director for the Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation. This amazing charity runs three programs for marginalized youth. In addition to working for a children’s charity, I grew up in a family were contributing to your community was always encouraged. I am blessed with 2 children and a few too many furry critters.
In addition to working for this amazing charity, I am also the owner/operator of Salter Fitness. I have multiple certifications with the International Sports Science Association. Some of these certifications are Personal Trainer, Seniors Expert, Transformation Specialist, Nutritionist and Corrective Exercise Specialist. I do believe that fitness comes in many forms, so my business also promotes dance and equine instruction.
I am an animal lover and avid horse enthusiast. I enjoy being an active competitor in the discipline of Reining and have earned both provincial and national championships, qualified 4 times to represent Eastern Canada at the world affiliate finals in Oklahoma and, most recently, earned 2 – Top Ten World Standing in this sport. I also enjoy playing the piano, numerous other sports and spending time with my family and friends.
With zero previous dance experience, I started dancing in 2018 as a DWESS celebrity and Bob Leduc was my Pro whose guidance landed us 3rd in the finals and in the 2020 DWESS “Call Back Battle”. Bob and I have been dancing together ever since our first DWESS! I have grown to love the sport of ballroom and Latin dancing. Bob is currently preparing me for my Bronze level exams with along with guidance of Jan from “Jan Fregonese’s Professional School of Dance”
For the past 5 years I have also been on the committee for the Northern Latin Congress and volunteered to give workshops and performing evening dance demonstrations. I also dance with Zoi Monroy and the Northern Latin Flavour troop.
So, when MJ asked if I was interested in helping once again with DWESS, there was NO hesitation. I am very excited to be involved once again with ‘Dancing with Easter Seals Stars’ to help raise funds in support of this wonderful organization and very appreciative of the support that I have received for this adventure from my family and friends.
